I was looking for free access to online communication journals when I stumbled upon these free-to-access sites:
American Communication Journal
http://acjournal.org/
Columbia Journalism Review
http://www.backissues.cjarchives.org/year
Journal of Intercultural Communication
http://www.immi.se/intercultural/
Global Media Journal of Purdue University
http://lass.calumet.purdue.edu/cca/gmj/
discourse analysis online
http://extra.shu.ac.uk/daol/index.html
In addition there is also an online journal for extension which regularly features peer-reviewed articles on behavior modification, like
Journal of Extension
http://www.joe.org
All you need to do is register and you will receive a quarterly issue of the publication through email.
There is also one highly esteemed and credible source of scientific papers/articles from different areas, including communication science, which Ford Fellows are accessing through the Ateneo de Manila University Library.
http://www.jstor.org
The problem with jstor is that it has a subscription fee. Also, you can only access the site if your university is registered with them. Maybe, VSU could register through the University Library so that our researchers and students could have unlimited access to a wealth of scientific materials.
I hope this would be a great help for our communication students. When I was writing my master’s thesis, I had a hard time looking for articles on health communication since, well, it’s a practically young field here. (I went to UP Diliman for it.) I will be posting more useful links in the future, if only you would not go through what I had to experience.

Thanks Nelfa. Let me feature this as a separate post to help communication students out there who may not see your comment.

For researchers and students who are interested in instructional design, here is a a free access journal, Journal of Educational Technology and Society,http://www.ifets.info/. For health communication, the Health Education Research at http://her.oxfordjournals.org/content/vol23/issue5/, will prove useful. However, you may notice that the most recent issues aren’t for free yet. At this time, you can access articles published in October 2007.
